Workshop 3
10:00 AM - 11:00 AM
Ignition Point for Non-Profits
Instructor: Kim Weitkamp
What if someone told you that there is a free and easy way to gain more volunteers, to let the public know what your non-profit offers plus get them emotionally invested in your mission and engage more donors?
Wouldn’t you want to know the secret?
The secret is Story.
The power of story is being newly discovered within the non-profit sector. Communication using story is being heralded by Forbes, Harvard, Cambridge and other respected institutions.
In the Ignition Point workshop you will learn to find your organization’s Ignition Point…and then learn how to apply and share it.
Through open discussion, exercises and examples, your volunteers, board members and staff will learn how to become effective ambassadors for your mission.
They will find their individual Ignition Points, craft a highly-effective elevator speech and learn how to use those tools in beneficial ways.
This workshop is presented by speaker Kim Weitkamp, an internationally recognized, award-winning storyteller and speaker. Kim worked for 23 years in the nonprofit sector and has most recently spent 12 years as a professional storyteller and speaker.
Kim has presented the Ignition Point workshop two years running at the National Feeding America Conference in Chicago, for Enterprise Holdings, for various Conflict Resolution Centers, for Cambridge Investment Research, ALA Conferences and many other high-profile nonprofits and companies.
